Christine Dempsey and Alan Brehm are two former professors, now serving as pastors, who have a passion for teaching and sharing knowledge.
Rev. Christine Dempsey, Ph.D.
Christine Dempsey is currently serving as the Associate Pastor of Presbyterian Church of the Cross in Omaha, Nebraska..
Christine completed her Ph.D. in Modern European History with a speciality in the Protestant Reformation from the University of Nebraska. She taught courses in European History, History of Christianity, Western Civilization, World History, History of Modern China and Women’s History. Her research focuses on the use of hymns as teaching tools during the Protestant Reformation. Christine is a lifelong Nebraskan having grown up in the western part of the state and now lives in Lincoln.
Christine is a newly ordained pastor in the PCUSA having attended the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. She is a wife to an awesome husband and mom to two fantastic boys. Her hobbies include Jazzercise, playing the trumpet, and cooking.
Rev. Alan Brehm, Ph.D.
Alan Brehm is currently serving as pastor of Hickman Presbyterian Church near Lincoln, Nebraska.
Alan completed his PhD in Biblical Studies and taught New Testament, Greek, Biblical Interpretation, and Philosophy of Religion at various seminaries. Although he is a native Texan, having grown up in a small town near Corpus Christi, his family roots are in Nebraska. His grandfather, Harold Brehm, was born and raised in Talmage and went to the University of Nebraska. Alan is a dad with three children and a granddad with three (beautiful ) granddaughters and one (amazing) grandson.
Alan blogs his sermons at “The Waking Dreamer.” He has spent his entire adult life serving the body of Christ through teaching and preaching the Scriptures, through writing and publishing, and through many mission endeavors. Alan has participated actively in the life of the Presbytery, and currently serves on the board of Directors of the Omaha Presbyterian Seminary Foundation. In his “spare” time Alan enjoys yoga, cycling, all kinds of music, and guitar.
