October 2, 2022 Luke 17:1-10 Faith for Service

This week we take a look at a passage that is challenging in that it combines seemingly disparate elements, but the theme is the faith that enables those who follow Jesus to be faithful disciples. We also discuss Calvin’s take on this, in response to the Roman Catholic teaching about “merits” and “rewards,” that we don’t have any claim to reward from God, because everything comes from grace. We conclude by talking about how that is a comfort to us, because we don’t have to try to earn God’s favor.
