Oct. 4, 2020: Matthew 21:33-46 The Parable of the Wicked Tenants

The parable of the “wicked” tenant farmers. This is one of many “ironical” parables in Matthew’s gospel, where Jesus tells a story about how the world operates in order to demonstrate that the Kingdom of God is very different. God is “gracious and compassion, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love,” rather than a God who is eager to exact revenge. Likewise, our efforts on behalf of the Kingdom must be driven by love, not anger.
